Both are possible, with 1 supply line both charging points can charge together with 22 kW. With 2 supply lines, both charging points can each charge with 22 kW.
When will the SMA EV Charger Business be available?
The SMA EV Charger Business is available immediately.
What is the price?
For prices of the SMA EV Charger Business, please contact your trade partner or your installer.
Apart from the charger itself, what is part of the offer?
The SMA EV Charger Business is part of our SMA Commercial eMobility Solution, which includes the charger itself, the new SMA eMoblility Portal, various services and extensive accessories.
How many charging points does the unit have?
The device has two charging points with a maximum charging power of 22 kW each. Two SMA EV Charger Business can be installed on one pole. Thus, up to four charging points can be realized with one installation and in one work step.
What functionalities does the system offer from the start of sales?
The Charger itself offers a variety of functions such as integrated dynamic charging load management, authentication via RFID, an OCPP interface for integration into the SMA eMobility Portal, remote updates and an MID- compliant meter. From Q2/2023, there will also be a version of the SMA EV Charger Business that complies with calibration regulations.
Can the EV Charger Business do bidirectional charging?
No, the EV Charger Business does not support bidirectional charging. For intermediate storage of surplus PV energy, SMA offers a storage solution as part of the SMA Commercial Energy Solutions, which was developed and optimized for commercial applications with its scalable storage capacity and its high charging and discharging performance. This storage solution optimally supports you in increasing your own consumption and/or avoiding peak loads.
How many years of warranty does the new SMA EV Charger have?
The SMA EV Charger Business comes with a two-year warranty. This warranty can be extended by five years to a total of seven years at a charge.

Yes, the eMobility Portal has been optimized for use on the terminal devices.
How long is the customer bound to the SMA eMobility Portal?
There is no obligation to use the SMA eMobility Portal. The operation of the SMA EV Charger Business with another backend is possible in principle, but not recommended. On the one hand, the backend is available to you for the first 5 years at no additional cost, and on the other hand, we only offer our remote service for Chargers that are registered and online in the SMA eMobility Portal.
What additional components are needed for dynamic load management?
In principle, dynamic charging load management also works without additional energy and power measurement. You only need this if the dynamic charging load management is also to consider self-consumption and/or generation from PV. Our recommendation is the Janitza UMG 604 Pro, as this is compatible with our commercial storage solution. Alternatively, you can also use the Siemens 7KM2200.
Is it possible to operate the SMA EV Charger Business without the SMA eMobility Portal?
Operation without a backend is possible in principle, but not recommended. On the one hand, the backend is available to you for the first five years at no additional cost, and on the other hand, we only offer our remote service for Chargers that are registered and online in the SMA eMobility Portal.
Is it possible to convert/retrofit a MID- compliant charger to a legal metrology- compliant charger?
No, it is not possible to convert chargers with an MID- compliant energy meter to a charger that complies with calibration law, as not only the energy meter must be replaced or converted in order to meet the requirements of calibration law.
Is an additional energy meter required for dynamic load management?
In principle, dynamic charging load management also works without additional energy and power measurement. You only need this if the dynamic charging load management is also to take into account self-consumption and/or generation from PV.
